Stationery for Queries

Q: Should you have stationery for queries with your name plus the word Writer? Or just your name, address, etc.? The implication is that Writer means “published” writer…yes or no? -Nancy

A:
It’s really a question of your personal style. “Writer” may also just imply a hope! To me, “author” sometimes implies publication, but then again it may simply be another hope. To answer you specifically, I would not use either one. More important is that your stationery have all your contact information, including your email address, in an easily read typeface. And though you didn’t ask, double-check your query letter for dropped words, grammar, spelling, etc., as well as clarity. And good luck!
